Fedrigoni sponsors "Good 50x70"

The ‘Good 50x70’ social communication project is culminating in an exhibition at the Milan Triennial. The ‘Good 50x70’ exhibition, which runs from the 19th to the 24th June, features the works selected from the international competition in which graphic designers, art directors, and copywriters, etc. from countries all over the world, were challenged to create thought-provoking posters about five major social problems identified by the UNO, namely AIDS, human rights, war, underdevelopment and the environment.

The exhibition presents a series of unfettered alternative solutions to communication on all five themes. By highlighting its effectiveness, the exhibition demonstrates how social communication can make a tangible contribution to raising the awareness of the public and of students and professionals in the field of communications.

A total of 1659 posters were entered for the competition which was judged by a panel of internationally famous graphic designers in the persons of Timo Berry (Finland), Yossi Lemel (Israel), Alain Le Quernec (France), Luba Lukova (USA), Chaz Maviyane-Davies (Zimbabwe), Armando Milani (Italy), Woody Pirtle (USA), Fukuda Shigeo (Japan), Massimo Vignelli (USA) and Lourdes Zolezzi (Mexico). Two hundred works were selected, with ten equal winners and thirty honourable mentions for each theme.

In addition to offering non-profit making organisations a free communication channel, Good 50x70 also acts as a workshop within which creativity can be given the freedom to tackle vital issues, and the opportunity to have a real effect on society as a positive force for change.

The competition and its final exhibition were organised by Pasquale Volpe with the assistance of Tommaso Minnetti and non-profit organisations including Amnesty International, Amref, Emergency, Greenpeace, and Lila. The event was also endorsed by Icograda, Beda, Adi Lombardia and Aiap.
