Digital printing on a black background is always a challenging business. But it can be done using the HP Indigo technology and a special colour, solid white, which opens the door to using supports in intense, dark colours, even black. An HP Indigo 5500 machine was used to print this cover, doing several runs of the white before the four-colour print run. The paper used is a 290 g Fedrigoni Sirio Black, a card coloured in the pulp that exudes an intense, deep black: it is the first paper in the world to receive certification directly from the hands of HP Indigo.
