Quali cose siamo (The things we are) is the title chosen for the third exhibition being presented by Milan’s Triennale Design Museum. The interpretation developed by Alessandro Mendini pivots on the idea that Italy is home to an unconventional form of design, a world that exists in parallel to the institutional one, populated by authors and objects from various different contexts and with a unique value of its own. This volume, which acts as the exhibition catalogue, contains descriptions of the designs that were chosen carefully to represent “the things we are”, a different outlook on Italian design that lurks under the surface of the official culture related to objects.
