Dalí, Lorca and the Student Residence
CaixaForum, Madrid

The relationship between Dalí and Lorca and their influence on Spanish culture constitutes the focus of this exhibition developed by Juan José Laborda and based on 150 different points of intersection between the two great artists. The exhibition presents a new interpretation of their personal relationship and artistic careers as well as of how their friendship developed in relation to their political ideas. Parallel to that, the exhibition covers the avant-garde movements of the time, such as Cubism, Futurism or Purism, through the work of Arp, Picasso, De Chirico and Léger. Divided into three parts – their initial meeting, maturity and growing apart – the exhibition includes novelties such as the recreation of the dormitories in the Residence as well as a documentary created specifically for the show by film director Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón.
