From 12 August to 17 October 2010
Max Ernst. Une semaine de bouté
Museo Nacional de Arte de México, MUNAL, México D. F.
The pieces belong to the last novel-collage that the artist created in the summer of 1933, “A Week of Kindness” and “The Seven Deadly Sins”. The curator of the exhibition describes the creative process as a “perfect crime” since in Ernst's manipulation of the collages, it is nearly impossible to distinguish the montage elements. Seven folders are exhibited, corresponding to a colour and a day of the week in which the German artist alludes ironically to the seven deadly sins and criticises them through anti-bourgeois parody and subversion.
