Will Eisner was one of the grand old men of American comics, the author of the strips featuring the famous character The Spirit and the originator of the literary genre of the graphic novel. L'arte del fumetto (The Art of Comics) is actually a re-edition of two fundamental books written by Eisner, Comics and Sequential Art and Graphic Storytelling and Visual Narrative, in which he drew on his own experience and the work of contemporary illustrators to demonstrate the rules, techniques and solutions used in cartoon art.
