The first northern international design conference, Made North, takes place this month. Organised by Culture North, designers and design students will discuss the future of their industry in the region. Among those taking part are Ian Anderson, founder of The Designers Republic, Conny Freyer, director and co-founder of Troika, Gareth Williams,
senior tutor, design products, at the Royal College of Art and the curator Danile Charny.
A range of discussions and lectures are promised around the themes of design, art and creative innovation, under such headings as ‘designing the future,’ ‘Making in the 21st century’ and ‘Art of Technology’, which will explore how the traditional roles of art and design are merging and how new creative practices are developing work that utilises the latest technological innovations.
